With football season fast approaching, the Hoo Preview will provide some opponent snapshots in the coming days.
Virginia’s closing stretch is a tough one this season with four road games in the final six contests. That includes a trip to Tallahassee on Nov. 8 to face the defending National Champion Seminoles.
2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston headlines the offense after throwing for 4,057 yards and 40 touchdowns last season, including 237 yards and two touchdowns in the national title game. Winston also rushed for 219 yards and four touchdowns.
The defense, meanwhile, returns six starters but it projects no seniors in the starting lineup. Still, juniors Terrance Smith and Tyler Hunter return at linebacker and safety. Smith had 59 tackles and an INT a year ago.
