Linebacker Jahvoni Simmons was the lone University of Virginia recruit to participate in one of the national postseason All-American events, suiting up for the victorious Team Highlight squad in the 2015 Under Armour All-American Bowl.
“Overall, it was a great experience,” the Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) senior said of the Under Armour event. “Competing against the best talent from around the country, it definitely showed where I am as a football player. It was a good bonding experience. I got to meet players from all across the country.”
Simmons started on the varsity level for four years and earned first-team all-Tidewater honors each of the past two seasons, totaling over 200 tackles combined during his junior and senior years. After competing with and against the nation’s best, where does the 6’1”, 230-pound prospect feel he stands as a football player?
“I feel like I’m a pretty good player. I have all the reads and stuff down,” Simmons said. “You can always work on finishing plays. I feel like I’m great at getting reads down. I made the plays I should have.”
