The Virginia football team announced a three-game series with Liberty over the weekend, bringing into focus the Cavaliers’ schedules for the two seasons following this fall’s campaign.
Take a look at the future schedules:
2018
- Sept. 1 vs. Richmond
- Sept. 8 at Indiana
- Sept. 15 vs. Ohio University
- Nov. 10 vs. Liberty
- TBA Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, Pittsburgh
- TBA at NC State, Duke, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech
2019
- Sept. 7 vs. William & Mary
- Sept. 21 vs. Old Dominion
- Sept. 28 at Notre Dame
- Nov. 23 vs. Liberty
- TBA Florida State, Duke, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech
- TBA at Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, Pittsburgh
When you look at those schedules stacked out like that, one goal is crystal clear. Get back on track and win more games. While no opponent guarantees a win – hello, Richmond 2016 – the set-up of these schedules is to maximize the potential for wins without question. Three non-conference home games in both seasons with solid, but not top 25 marquee opponents is designed to try to put the program on steadier ground.
Richmond and William & Mary fill the traditional FCS opponent slots. Liberty, meanwhile, will be in the first two years of the transition from FCS to FBS competition in 2018 and 2019.
