The Virginia basketball dodged a potential road game pitfall by winning at Syracuse on Saturday, 59-44. The Hoos had lost in the Carrier Dome last season, but held Cuse to its lowest point total in the building in program history to get the job done this time around.
As a result of the victory, the Cavaliers stand at 11-0 in the ACC with seven games to play. That puts them in position to make some UVA program history this week. The 1980-81 team started 12-0 in ACC play so if this year’s team can win at Florida State on Wednesday, it can match that start. The Wahoos close out the week with Virginia Tech at home on Saturday with ESPN’s College Gameday show in town that morning.

Virginia clearly wanted to get a good look early against Syracuse’s zone and it decided to get that look for Kyle Guy to try to get him going. That made sense obviously since he had a big outing against the Orange in Charlottesville, posting 22 points behind five 3-pointers.
