Walnut Hills (Cincinnati, OH) varsity football head coach Gerry Beauchamp was surprised at the timing of rising senior Jowon Briggs’ college commitment. He wasn’t surprised at the choice.
On Friday, June 22, the 6’3”, 278-pound defensive line prospect pledged to the University of Virginia over Alabama, Kentucky, Miami (OH), Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and Tennessee. Briggs, who is ranked the No. 57 overall rising senior in the nation by Rivals and the No. 105 overall rising senior nationally by 247Sports, is UVA’s most highly rated commitment in the Bronco Mendenhall era.
...Thanks to anyone and everyone involved in recruiting me, but you can’t just step over a field of diamonds
I know that this decision is the best one I can possibly make
I’m proud of it.
I’ve never smiled so brilliantly on a trips
I’m committed
