Virginia defensive coordinator Nick Howell was “surprised” about Briggs’ sudden departure.
“I was surprised and I think it took us off guard,” Howell said. “Our reaction to it is we have to move on with the guys that are here and do our very best. Just like any other situation. You just go forward. Move on and continue to do your very best that you possibly can.”
