Walk into Rick Houchens’ office and you will immediately notice an abundance of pictures covering the walls of his
12 X 14 think tank.  There are shots of Charles Hill, Derrick Burgess and David Upchurch — players he coached in
high school who play in the NFL today.  Other images of Josh Allen (UMd), Marvin Ward and Matthew Rice — college
stars who will most likely play at the professional level.  Even Al Groh’s smiling mug shot graces Houchens’
collection.

These pictures tell a thousand stories.  They symbolize Houchens’ dedication to his athletes, his commitment
to football and his success on the gridiron.

"I got pictures from ceiling to floor," said Houchens, the head football coach at Eleanor Roosevelt High
School in Greenbelt, Maryland.  "When I run out, I’ll get a classroom for all my pictures and players."

Although Theirrien Davis ’ picture does not hang on Houchens’ distinguished wall, that does not stop Houchens from
speaking of Davis in the same breath as those photographed athletes.
