Quarterbacks (B-)

Considering the pressure he was under most of the evening (for which blame will be assigned momentarily), and considering he had no run support whatsoever, and considering he and Heath Miller kept the ‘Hoos from total obliteration, I thought Marques Hagans played OK. He did struggle with some of his throws midway through the third quarter, but his injury (bruised hip) may have had something to do with that.

Note: Coach Groh confirmed Sunday that Christian Olsen has replaced Kevin McCabe at the No. 2 spot on the quarterback depth chart. Olsen played the entire fourth quarter for the Cavs.

Running Backs (C+)

It’s very difficult to provide a complete analysis of the Virginia running game since the Seminoles did such an effective job of taking it out of the mix. Judging the non-running aspects of the game – blocking, receiving, etc. – I’d say the backs were average.

“We took them out of their offense and put them in a position they’re not used to,” said Seminole linebacker Buster Davis. “That’s when you can send the house on them and that’s what we did tonight. We shut them down.”
