Virginia 37, Duke 16: Game Grades

DURHAM, N.C. – In the end, Saturday’s game was simply an issue of Virginia having too much talent for an evolving Duke program. An outmanned team outscrapped Virginia. A game that never should have been close was within a touchdown in the fourth quarter. While there were certainly some standout units on the day, this was collectively an uninspired and average performance by the Wahoos.

Offense (Overall B-)

Some may find the grade for Marques Hagans harsh considering the mitigating circumstance that he played injured. The grades herein are based on the expected performance from the position. If an injured player under-performed, the grade will reflect his performance without consideration for the injury.

The offense was 6 of 11 on third-down conversions and 7 of 7 in red-zone chances (four touchdowns and three field goals). Virginia did produce 511 yards of offense, the second-highest total allowed by the Blue Devils this season.
