Did UVa In-Home Impress Cushing?

UVa had a very important visit with one of its top targets this past week, when the Cavaliers visited the home of outstanding Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) linebacker Brian Cushing . According to Brian’s father Frank Cushing, the visit went about as well as the Cavaliers could have hoped.

“It was terrific,” Frank Cushing said. “Coach [Al] Groh, Coach Golden and Coach D’Onofrio were here. They really spelled out what UVa had to offer in terms of education and in football. Coach Groh really emphasized his expertise in teaching linebackers and enforced that they could get Brian to where he wants to go.

“Coach Groh really laid it out as best as anybody as to what a young man’s selection criteria should be for a school. I think he really opened Brian’s eyes as to what he should be looking for in this process. His presentation was excellent. It was one of the best visits we’ve ever had with a school.”

Mr. Cushing says Brian still plans on making an official visit to USC immediately following the Army All-American Bowl on January 15th. Brian will fly from San Antonio to USC immediately following the game.
