Fork Union Star Drawing Interest

One of the top overall athletes in the state of Virginia for the 2006 class is Brandon Caleb . Caleb, a 6-2, 190-pound prospect who plays wide receiver and outside linebacker for Fork Union Military Academy’s prep team, also stars in track and basketball. Besides being a second-team all-state and first-team all-prep league performer in football, Caleb is state champion in the triple and long jump events and is a starting guard for the basketball team.

While he excels in many sports, football is the sport he wants to play on the next level. Possessing good speed, Caleb has been timed in the 4.4s in the 40-yard dash at Fork Union and was recently timed at 4.5 in the 40 earlier this year during the Army All-American bowl combine in San Antonio, Texas.

“I think everybody’s looking at him as an athlete,” Fork Union Head Coach Mickey Sullivan said. “He was all-prep and all-state as an outside linebacker. He was on the all-central Virginia first team as an outside linebacker. So I think everybody’s looking at him more as an athlete and then they’ll decide where they’re going to put him. He’s being looked at by some people as a receiver and some people as an outside linebacker but most of them are wanting a little bit of both on film to evaluate and see where he does fit.”

Caleb is drawing interest from several Division I-A programs according to Coach Sullivan. Caleb plans on attending the Nike combine in Blacksburg this spring to try and increase the amount of interest.
