Cary High School (NC) running back Josh Adams produced some serious numbers as a junior this past season. He rushed for 2,888 yards. He had 30 overall touchdowns, including 26 rushing touchdowns, one kick-off return for a touchdown, two touchdown receptions and threw one touchdown pass.
What stands out the most besides his production is his athleticism. Besides being a star on the gridiron, Adams excels in several track events as well.
“Josh is probably 5-11, 6-0, somewhere in there,” Cary head coach Ben Kolstad said. “He’s 170 pounds right now. Speed-wise, he ran the 40 last summer in about 4.55, 4.5 area. He runs track as well. He’s a long jumper – he’s jumped 21 to 22 feet. He runs the middle distance races – the 400 and that type of thing.
“His vision is probably the number one thing. He’s got that knack of finding the hole. Even if there’s not a hole, he can make people miss easily. He’s not a burner, but like I said he’s got the moves. He uses some of the old fashioned stuff. He uses a stiff arm. He’s a very determined kid. He runs hard and he wants the team to be successful. He does whatever it takes.”
