Pearman Focused on Getting to UVa

Although it still is not yet official, Andrew Pearman fully intends on enrolling at the University of Virginia this fall. Pearman, a star running back coming out of Providence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, is transferring to UVa from the University of Hawaii. He left Hawaii after the first semester.

“In my mind it’s as finalized as it can be that I’ll be going to the University of Virginia this coming up fall,” Pearman said. “Of course nothing’s in writing yet. I’m taking classes up at a community college in Charlotte. The classes are going pretty well, I’m going to be pretty successful there and there’s not going to be anything holding me back from doing what I’m trying to do. I’m getting all these credits I need to transfer over to be able to be a sophomore next year at Virginia. I’m just waiting to be finished with these classes because I can’t transfer unless I’m a sophomore by the fall, so there can’t be anything official. Virginia doesn’t accept mid-year transfers or else I’d be there by now. It’s all going to depend on when I finish up with this school and I should be finished up by the end part of June or by July, so it should be finalized in writing then. I feel pretty confident I’ll be accepted. There’s no point in having any doubts. I think my hard work is going to pay off and it’s going to pay off by me being at the University of Virginia. I’m real excited.”

When he’s not studying, Pearman can be found working or training. Since he left high school at 5-9, 170-pounds, Pearman says he has gained 12 pounds of “good, solid weight.” Now, he is training hard to improve is overall athleticism and his speed, which was pretty good in high school. At Providence, he was timed on several occasions in the high 4.2s in the 40-yard dash.

“I have a lot of time on my hands (laughs),” Pearman said. “I just started training at this place called Velocity. I’m actually training there with [former Carolina Panthers and now Chicago Bears wide receiver] Muhsin Muhammad. I’m getting some excellent, excellent pointers on receiving from getting off the line to running routes and everything, so he’s a great person to work with. He’s a pro-bowl receiver so it’s really good to work out with him and learn from the best. He’s definitely in a situation I’d like to be in (laughs).
