Caparelli Focused, Determined for 2005

Robinson (Fairfax, VA) tailback Lucas Caparelli earned recognition his sophomore season by averaging 10 yards per carry. He built upon his sophomore year success and blossomed into a true star this past season, rushing 219 times for 1,889 yards and catching 18 receptions for 429 yards. He scored 28 total touchdowns, including two kick-off returns for touchdowns, in helping Robinson to a 13-1 season and an appearance in the Division 6 state championship game.

Caparelli possesses very good speed. According to Robinson head coach Mark Bendorf, he consistently runs a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash and can run in the 4.4s. He has good size at 5-11, 190-pounds. But it is his toughness, effort and determination that may make him the player he is.

“I try to play and run whether I’m on defense or offense as hard as I possibly can and with everything that I have,” Caparelli said. “I hope that drive and determination will help pass difficult obstacles.”

Caparelli matches the effort he puts in on the field with the effort he puts in the weight room. He credits coach Bendorf’s weightlifting program with helping in his own development and the success of the team. Coach Bendorf runs an intensive program that has helped his program become what it is today…a consistent competitor for the state championship.
