Southern Durham (NC) star Carl Johnson hopes to make his first cut of schools by next month. Just how many schools the 6-6, 330-pound offensive line prospect will narrow to is the question. Johnson is rated as one of the top overall prospects in the country and has a long list of Division 1-A scholarship offers.

“At the beginning of June, I’m going to announce my top schools,” Johnson said. “I’m going to have like a top 8 or a top 10. Me and my dad are still in the process of crossing schools out.”

When asked if UVa was still under serious consideration, Johnson quickly answered “yes, sir.”

Johnson recently saw UVa offensive line coach Ron Prince at the Nike camp in Georgia, however the two were not allowed to talk per NCAA regulations. A UVa coach did stop by Southern Durham earlier this week, but it wasn’t coach Prince (who used to be the primary recruiter at Southern Durham High School).
