Caparelli Adds Six Offers

Lucas Caparelli has had a very successful month of May. The 5-11, 190-pound Robinson High School (Fairfax, VA) star has added six new Division 1-A scholarship offers to the fold this month, including one from the University of Virginia earlier this week. Another could be on the way very soon as well.

“It’s obviously been a pretty busy May,” Robinson head coach Mark Bendorf said. “In no particular order, schools in the hunt with offers are Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Michigan State, UVa, Pitt, Maryland and Duke. Ohio State is coming back in today. From our last conversation, I think they may be close [to offering].”

At tailback, Caparelli is a very capable receiver as well as a rusher. He also plays defense for coach Bendorf and could end up as a defensive back on the next level. A very good special teams player, Caparelli’s versatility is attractive to Division 1-A programs.

“Obviously he’s got upside as a football player,” Bendorf said. “It’s hard to ignore the success he’s had as a running back against good competition. He has real skills with the ball in his hands. I think a lot of schools are also intrigued by what he can do on defense and his kick-return ability. He has a lot of flexibility as a player.”
