Bishop McDevitt’s (Harrisburgh, PA) 6-3, 320-pound defensive tackle Jason Kates now claims 21 1-A scholarship offers. Not all 21 will be in this race for long, as Kates plans on narrowing his list this summer. When will he narrow his list? How many schools will make it?

“I plan to narrow it down pretty soon,” said Kates, who did not state any favorites. “I’ll get it down to 5. It’s going to help me to do that before my senior year.”

This summer, Kates will visit a few schools. “I plan on doing a few things,” Kates said. “Everything’s still up in the air right now.”

There are a lot of Big 10, ACC and Big East representation among Kates’ 21 scholarship offers. Boston College, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, N.C. State, Penn State, Pitt, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin are just some of the schools he says has offered. Notre Dame has offered as well.
