Mount Vernon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) small forward Jon Mitchell appears to be one of Virginia’s top targets for the 2006 recruiting class. According to Mount Vernon head coach Bob Ciccimo, new Virginia head coach Dave Leitao was in touch almost immediately to recruit Mitchell.

“I think that the first day coach Leitao got the job he gave us a call,” CIccimo said. “He recruited Ben Gordon from our school, so we’ve known each other for a while.”

Virginia, along with many other schools, have offered the 6-6 1/2, 230-pound Mitchell, who is rated a 4-star prospect by Scout.com and Rivals.com.
