Virginia head coach Dave Leitao is certainly in the market for frontcourt help in the 2006 recruiting class, but he is also looking to add talent and depth at the wing positions. Virginia’s search for a top wing player has gone to the state of Georgia, where 6-5, 225-pound Solomon Tat plays for Community Christian School in Stockbridge.
“He’s a very unique player,” CC head coach Linzy Davis said of Tat. “There’s no one like him. I call him the Ronnie Lott of basketball because he is so strong. He’s 225 pounds of pure steel and he plays in a physical manner. He can play multiple positions. He played the point for us last season. He could play the one, two or three at the college level.”
As a junior last season, Tat averaged 24 points, 6 boards and 5 assists while running the point. The experience playing the point will serve Tat well on the next level, adding to his already versatile skill level.
