6-7, 230-pound Mount Vernon (N.Y.) power forward Jon Mitchell did make his official visit to UVa last weekend. Mount Vernon head coach Bob Cimmino discussed whether or not his 4-star recruit, who had already taken two official visits, would be making any more.

“He has a visit to Florida in about 12 days,” Cimmino said of Mitchell. “He’s already been to Miami and Marquette. He’s thinking about a fifth visit – he’s debating also between Pitt and Rutgers.”

Asked if Mitchell had a good visit to UVa, Cimmino replied “he enjoyed his visit.” Is there a favorite for the talented senior?

“It’s tough to say right now,” Cimmino said. “I know Marquette, Virginia and Florida are very much on Jon’s mind right now.”

Jon Mitchell is one of the top overall targets for Coach Leitao and company for the 2006 recruiting class. TheSabre.com will continue to try and reach Mitchell for further comments on his UVa visit.

Several 2006 targets have committed elsewhere. 6-10 center Brad Sheehan , who made an official visit to UVa last weekend, has verbally committed to Georgia Tech. 6-7 wing forward Wellington Smith has chosen West Virginia.

According to Jeff White at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, 6-8, 210-pound forward Jamil Tucker is scheduled to arrive in Charlottesville today for his official visit. Tucker, who plays some point guard for Westside High School in Gary, Indiana, is rated a 4-star prospect and the #63 overall recruit in the 2006 class by Rivals.com. He projects as a small forward on the next level. Stay tuned for an update immediately following Jamil’s official visit.
