Four Cavs Make All-ACC Teams

Virginia wasn’t among the top teams in the conference this season, but four Cavaliers were among the best at their respective positions. D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Kai Parham and Connor Hughes made the All-ACC first team, while Marcus Hamilton earned second-team honors in voting by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.

Ferguson, a senior tackle, was a repeat selection. Despite missing two games with a knee injury, he received more votes than any offensive lineman other than Miami’s Eric Winston. He is the first Cavalier tackle named to the All-ACC first team in back-to-back seasons since Ray Roberts in 1990-91.

Parham, a junior inside linebacker, had his finest season while Ahmad Brooks struggled with injuries. He averaged 8.1 tackles per game, eighth in the ACC, and also was fifth in the conference with nine sacks – the second-most ever by an ACC inside linebacker. He earned ACC defensive lineman of the week honors three times, more than any other player.

Hughes was honored for a nearly flawless senior season. He has made 19 of 22 field goals and has been perfect on 32 extra points. He became UVa’s all-time leading scorer earlier in the season.

Hamilton helped solidify a young and injury-plagued Virginia secondary this season. The junior cornerback is tied for the ACC lead with five interceptions and also is second among conference CBs in tackles (5.5 per game).

Junior receiver Deyon Williams earned honorable mention recognition, though his numbers suggest he deserved better. He is second in the ACC in receptions (52) and touchdown catches (6), and fourth in receiving yards (679).
