DeAndre Filer is finally a part of UVa’s 2006 recruiting class. The 5-10, 175-pound Indian River (Chesapeake, VA) senior verbally committed to the staff last Friday, according to Indian River head coach Cadillac Harris. Filer becomes the 21st player to commit to the ‘Hoos in this year’s class.

“Yes, he has committed,” Harris said. “He did it on Friday. He told me he is solid to Virginia and he doesn’t plan on taking visits to other schools.”

Rumors swirled that Filer committed on his official visit to UVa on the weekend of December 2nd. The standout prospect denied those rumors, but admitted having a great official visit experience and listed UVa as his favorite at the time.
