UVa has landed its second offensive line prospect of the 2006 recruiting class. Deep Creek (Chesapeake, VA) standout Billy Cuffee has verbally committed to the ‘Hoos. The 6-5, 320-pound Cuffee chose Virginia over East Carolina, Maryland, N.C. State and Virginia Tech.

“He’s going to UVa,” Deep Creek head coach David Cox said. “His mother told me it was a done deal.”

Cuffee missed his entire junior season due to a hip flexor injury but returned strong in 2005, earning AP second-team all-state and first-team all-Tidewater honors for his senior year performance. He possesses good athleticism to go along with impressive size.

“I think he had a good senior year,” Cox said. “He has a ton of upside. It’s just a matter of how good he wants to get. I think he can be real good.”

Cuffee joins 6-5, 300-pound Nelson County (Lovingston, VA) prospect B.J. Cabbell as recruits who project along the offensive line. Virginia currently has 26 verbal commitments for the 2006 recruiting class.
