With his commitment yesterday, Nick Jenkins became the most highly rated nose guard prospect to commit to Virginia in the Al Groh era since Keenan Carter committed for the 2002 recruiting class. Jenkins, who boasts 31 official Division 1A scholarship offers, has the ability, the desire and the tenacity to be an outstanding nose over his four to five year career.

“I’m really excited about playing nose guard, especially with the new 3-4 defense they’ll be running,” Jenkins said. “I’m going to be able to make plays. I’ll be running stunts and stuff like that, so I’ll have a chance to get into the backfield.”

Jenkins is rated a 4-star prospect by Rivals.com, which also rates him as the #24 defensive tackle in the country. Scout.com rates him as a 4-star prospect as well. As a junior last season, he racked up 76 tackles including two sacks. He added two fumble recoveries and five quarterback hurries.
