John Elliott , the East Meadow (N.Y.) star who is rated a 4-star prospect by Scout.com, is a high priority for the University of Virginia staff. The ‘Hoos are doing a “tremendous job” of recruiting the offensive tackle recruit according to East Meadow head coach Vinny Mascia. But, will the Cavs be able to make the next cut?

“I’d be very surprised if they didn’t make that next cut,” Mascia said. “Right now, their chances are as good or better than anybody. He loved his visit there. He loved the school. He got along great with coach Groh. He liked everything about it. He liked the coaches, he liked the practice he was there for and he liked the campus.

“Coach Garrett and coach Groh are in constant contact, text messaging him letting him know what they’re doing and asking how he’s doing. They’ve been contacting me to stay on top of the situation with me. They’re really on top of things with him.”
