Deyon Williams to a stress fracture has dampened some of the enthusiasm, but this is still one of the most talented and deepest components of the Virginia offense.

X Receiver

The “X” or split end (designated by being on the line of scrimmage) position is generally reserved for more of a possession-type receiver who has a good release off the ball. In most cases, the X receiver is the No. 1 wide receiver on the team. He is usually the go-to receiver that the team depends on to make big plays. Also, if a team lines up in a formation that calls for only one wide receiver, the one receiver on the football field will usually be the X receiver.

That role is normally reserved for Williams but leading the charge to win the spot is sophomore Kevin Ogletree .
