One of seven finalists, the University of Virginia remains in heavy contention for top offensive line prospect John Elliott . East Meadow High School’s (N.Y.) four-star prospect does not seem to be in a rush to narrow his list further and, in fact, the next cut could come by the end of his senior season.

“I think about recruiting a lot, but honestly I don’t really have to make my officials until after the end of the season. In that sense, I don’t really have to narrow my list until the end of my season,” Elliott said. “All of my official visits will be after my season is over. As for unofficial visits, I don’t think I’ll be able to make many although my coach asked if I wanted to go to Penn State this weekend to see a former teammate of mine play. Penn State is not in my top seven.”

The UVa staff is doing an impressive job recruiting the 6-5, 295-pound standout. Elliott still appears to be one of UVa’s top remaining targets in the 2007 class.
