Dontrelle Inman’s Road to Committing to UVa

Dontrelle Inman caught the attention of college coaches in his junior season when he turned in an excellent performance during Batesburg-Leesville’s state championship run. Inman would receive offers from schools including Auburn, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, South Carolina and Virginia before committing to the ‘Hoos earlier this month.

“He had all those offers because he had a really, really good playoffs for us last year,” Batesburg-Leesville (S.C.) head coach Courtney McInnis said. “He helped us win the State Championship last year (2005) and he made some amazing catches in those playoffs. I mean, some fantastic catches.”

The 6-2 ½, 185-pound wide receiver recruit, rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, says his junior year playoff performance was the “turning point” for an upswing in his recruitment. He began to hear from college coaches the following spring and began earning offers during the May evaluation period.
