Bayside (Virginia Beach, VA) junior quarterback E.J. Manuel is off to a good start in the offer department, having received written offers from four Division 1A programs. A starter at quarterback since his freshman year (when he started five games), Manuel turned in a productive junior season in 2006. He threw for 1,973 yards – completing 56-percent of his passes – with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions and rushed for another 300 yards rushing with five touchdowns.

“Offers have come from Maryland, Virginia, Marshall and Duke. Those are the ones that have come in writing,” Bayside head coach Darnell Moore said. “UNC said they were going to offer, but that was when the old staff was in place. When the new staff sees what he does, I think they will offer. Miami (FL) has indicated that they will recruit him. Clemson has been in contact recently. Virginia Tech told me prior to the dead period that they were going to offer. I assume they will at some point in time. E.J. just received something from Tennessee and I just sent a DVD to UCLA.”

Manuel blends size and speed and displayed this at one-day camps at Duke, Marshall and UNC last summer.
