There is typically a lot of talk about mystery recruits and potential surprise commitments around this time of year, with Signing Day less than a month away. Well, UVa has pulled a surprise today, receiving a commitment from one of its top targets along the offensive line.

“That’s correct. He did commit to Virginia,” said the father of Lamar Milstead , a 6-6, 275-pound prospect out of Ballou High School in Washington, D.C.

Milstead had been committed to the University of North Carolina since last summer. He decided to re-open his recruitment slightly when John Bunting was dismissed as UNC head coach, but seemed to solidify things with the Tar Heels recently. He committed to UVa today on his way home from his official visit to UNC.
