In his senior season at Thornton Township (Harvey, IL), Mustapha Farrakhan is averaging 22 points, six assists and four rebounds per game in leading the varsity basketball squad to a 16-4 record on the year. Farrakhan, who had some excellent performances in the AAU circuit this past off-season, has carried the momentum he built last summer into his final year of high school.

“He is more of a complete player,” Thornton Township head coach Troy Jackson said of Farrakhan, who averaged 17 points, four rebounds and close to four assists per game his junior season. “Not only can he shoot from the outside, but he’s getting to the basket better. And he’s become the team leader. His maturity has gotten better.”

Coach Jackson has been using the 6-3, 170-pound Farrakhan as a two guard, but a position change could be in order as the postseason tournaments approach.
