24 Players Sign with UVa

With the exception of about a 45-minute time period, today’s Signing Day has been relatively smooth for the University of Virginia. Head coach Al Groh and staff have received letters of intent from 24 prospects, including a total of seven 4-star recruits

Around 12:00 p.m. EST, news broke of a possible commitment from five-star defensive tackle Marvin Austin. Unfortunately for UVa, a report from WTOP radio station proved not to be true, as Austin announced around 12:45 p.m. that he was signing with UNC.

Several hours later, TheSabre.com confirmed that Romale Tucker , a 6-4, 210-pound linebacker out of Milford Academy/Ballou High School, had signed earlier in the day with Syracuse. Tucker, who committed to UVa last September, was considering both UVa and Syracuse heading into today.

So UVa has received 24 letters of intent, all of which you can read about by using the link below. Stay tuned for further coverage on this class, including an “In Focus” article tomorrow morning. TheSabre.com will analyze the entire recruiting class including all of the 2007 class signees.
