UVa will have a chance to impress one of the top junior tight end prospects in the East within the next month or so, as 6-7, 232-pound Mark Wedderburn is planning to visit Charlottesville for a spring practice. The Cavs are one of 13 programs that have extended a scholarship offer to the Cardinal O’Hara (Springfield, PA) star.

“He has 13 offers right now,” Cardinal O’Hara head coach Dan Algeo said. “In terms of the ACC interest, he has offers from Virginia, Maryland, Clemson, Miami and Boston College. Right now, he’s very open-minded and is just enjoying the process.”

As a junior this past season, Wedderburn performed well at tight end and wide receiver for Coach Algeo. He finished the season with 14 catches for 287 yards and three scores. He is expected to play tight end, wide receiver and outside linebacker in his senior season, which will be the third straight year he has started on the varsity level.
