Northeast Macon (Macon, GA) offensive coordinator Millard Vining figured something special had happened. Sitting in the office of UVa running backs coach Anthony Poindexter, Coach Vining heard what he called a “commotion” in the office of Al Groh. Northeast Macon star wide receiver Javaris Brown had verbally committed to the Cavs head coach.
“He and his mom were meeting with Coach Groh and I heard a commotion,” Vining recalled from earlier this afternoon. “They all came out and that’s when he announced he had committed. They were all real excited.”
In Brown, Virginia gets a 5-11, 180-pound wide receiver who runs a legit 4.4 in the 40 according to Vining. Brown made 44 receptions for 863 yards and 10 touchdowns last season as a junior. He is being recruited by Virginia as a wide receiver, though some other schools like him as a defensive back.
