Phoebus (Hampton, VA) CB/WR Reid Evans is one rising senior to watch this season. Though he has yet to land a major Division 1A offer, the 5-11, 170-pound prospect feels primed for a big 2007 campaign. He is coming off a junior year performance where he made 9 interceptions including 7 over the last five games. He added three touchdown receptions.

“I can’t wait for this season,” Evans said. “I have prepared myself real good. Last year, I wasn’t in the weight room at all. This year, I haven’t missed one day. I’ve been training and pushing myself hard. I have more experience. I’ve improved my speed and my strength. Last year, I wasn’t coming up and smacking the hit on the runner when I tackled. This year, I come up and make the hit. My footwork is getting a lot better. I’m breaking to the ball better. I’m catching the ball better.”

In addition to playing cornerback and wide receiver, Evans returns kick-offs and punts as well. He certainly doesn’t mind seeing extensive action.
