The University of Virginia has landed its 13th commitment of the 2008 recruiting class, securing a pledge from 6-6, 238-pound punter Jimmy Howell . Howell, a standout out of West Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina, has chosen UVa over Northwestern and Duke, among others.

“He has committed to Virginia,” West Florence head coach Trey Woodberry said. “He decided to commit to Virginia [this past] Sunday.”

Howell, who attended camps at Clemson, LSU, Northwestern and Virginia during the summer, originally gave a verbal commitment to Northwestern. But he visited UVa on the weekend of September 29th and subsequently switched his verbal commitment to the Cavs.
