In 2006, defensive end Sean Gottschalk signed with the University of Virginia. In the 2008 class, linebacker Derek Jackson has given a verbal commitment to Purdue. Deep Run (Glen Allen, VA) has boasted some excellent talents in its varsity football program in recent years, and junior defensive end/tight end Jake Snyder may be the next prospect to receive a scholarship from a Division 1A program.

The 6-4, 235-pound prospect has already generated interest despite not attending any summer camps.

“I’ve been getting letters from [Virginia] Tech and Maryland and UVa,” Snyder said. “I’ve been talking with [UVa] Coach [Mike] Groh through our head coach, Coach Kendall. I’ve been up to Maryland. My second real visit on a college sideline was with Virginia [last Saturday]. That was fun. Other than that, I’ve just been getting letters.”
