Virginia is one of four Division 1A programs to extend a scholarship offer to 6-1, 175-pound Winslow Township (Atco, N.J.) senior Brandon Jones , who turned in a breakout performance in his senior season. Jones, a talented and productive wide receiver and defensive back, has narrowed his list to two schools and plans to make a college decision next month.

Rutgers and Virginia are the finalists over Iowa and Syracuse, and Rutgers is scheduled to host the Garden State standout on what will be a key unofficial visit scheduled for next weekend.

“I would rather make a decision sooner than later,” Jones said. “I’m going to visit Virginia on the 25th and I’m going to Rutgers on the 6th of January. The Rutgers visit will just be an unofficial visit, but I should be able to get a good feel for the program. Hopefully, after I go to Rutgers, I’ll be ready to make a decision.
