Quarterback Brent Burnette has gone undefeated in his high school career. In his senior season he completed 69-percent of his passes, throwing for 3,521 yards with 38 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. He led Maryville (TN) to its fourth consecutive Class 4A state championship title. Now, the senior signal caller is hoping to accomplish one more thing – a Division 1A scholarship offer. It could happen this weekend.

This Friday, Burnette will leave for the University of Virginia for an official visit. While he is not certain if an offer will follow, he is excited about the opportunity.

“Two days ago, Coach Mike Groh came by the school,” said Burnette, who had received interest from Virginia last spring. “He came in the morning and met with me. He just wanted to get to know me because they are interested. I’m glad he did because I enjoyed visiting with him. He just said they wanted to bring me in for a visit to get to know me. He wants to introduce me to the whole coaching staff and for them to get to know me. I want to see what UVa has to offer. Hopefully, something will happen.”
