Solon (OH) linebacker Steve Greer led his team in tackles as a junior in 2006, but he still wasn’t a top prospect in the eyes of Division 1A coaches. Undeterred, the 6-2, 218-pound prospect turned in a 150-tackle senior season and is now on the brink of making a commitment to a Division 1A program.

“Steve is a relentless worker,” Solon head coach Jim McQuaide said. “Last spring, he was a borderline prospect. He became possessed with working out and training for this season. He had a great year. He was all Division 1 Ohio first team, which is a great accomplishment. He has led our team in tackles the last two years. More importantly, he is a great guy. He will be a huge loss for us. He was a team captain. I think he is going to be an outstanding player in college. He played the Mike for us. He runs well, but his explosiveness is really something. He can get to a spot and deliver a blow.”

January has been a very successful month for the first-team all-Ohio selection.
