As Cardinal O’Hara (Springfield, PA) head coach Dan Algeo expected, 6-5, 220-pound junior quarterback Tom Savage received an official scholarship offer from the University of Virginia before returning home from the Cavaliers junior day. Savage, one of the most highly recruited prospects in the state of Pennsylvania, is now closing in on 20 Division 1A scholarship offers.

“I talked to the head coach and they offered me,” Savage said.

Yesterday’s visit was Savage’s first to UVa, but his mother had been to Charlottesville several times previously for work obligations and commented on how much she liked the campus. For Savage, yesterday was not just about seeing the campus and the facilities. He called the facilities “great” and the campus “beautiful,” but the experience was more about getting to know quarterbacks coach Mike Groh.
