Back on November 3rd, the University of Virginia became the first Division 1A program to extend a scholarship offer to hard-hitting safety Corey Lillard . The Liberty High School (Bealeton, VA) standout junior, who has added three more 1A offers since then, certainly remembers receiving the offer from head coach Al Groh.

“When Coach Groh first told me that he was offering, I was like ‘wow’. I never thought I’d be able to play Division 1 football. I was just excited,” said the 5-11, 190-pound Lillard, who has also been offered by Duke, North Carolina and N.C. State. In addition, he is drawing serious interest from Connecticut, Maryland, Rutgers and Virginia Tech, among others.

Lillard has made multiple trips to the University of Virginia and was in attendance for Sunday’s junior day.
