Henry Clay (Lexington, KY) offensive lineman Samuel Simpson is making visit plans for the spring, and according to his father, Sam, the University of Virginia will be one of the destinations. Sam Simpson, who is Henry Clay’s head coach, provided the latest on his son’s recruitment.

“We just got back from the Rivals 5-star Academy in Cincinnati,” Coach Simpson said. “I got a call from Purdue [yesterday] afternoon. They said they are offering him. He is catching fire right now. The spring is important to us to take a look at all of the schools that have shown interest and the schools that he has liked. He wants to seek them out as much as they have sought him out.”

A first-team all-city performer last season as a junior, 6-5, 265-pound prospect boasts double-digit scholarship offers including Auburn, Kentucky, Louisville, N.C. State, Purdue, Stanford, Tennessee and Virginia, among others. He attended UVa’s summer camp last summer and plans a return trip next month.
