The University of Virginia was the first Division 1A program to extend a scholarship offer to St. Ignatius (Cleveland, OH) junior outside linebacker recruit Dan Fox . It could be the first to offer another Wildcats standout junior, as the staff is showing heavy interest in 6-1, 180-pound wide receiver Connor Ryan .

Ryan, a player Wildcats head coach Chuck Kyle says “has good hands and makes big plays,” hauled in 38 receptions for 530 yards and seven touchdowns in the 2007 season. He has yet to receive a scholarship offer but feels the recruiting process is going well.

“Recruiting is picking up,” Ryan said. “It is kind of intense. I talk to Ohio State pretty much every week. There are a bunch of schools I’m talking to. The main schools I’m interested in to attend summer camps or to get early offers from are Virginia, Ohio State and Boston College. But whoever asks that really wants me to go I’d go to a camp. Northwestern and Notre Dame are showing interest as well. Cincinnati is as well.”
