UVa, led by primary recruiter Steve Seymour and head coach Dave Leitao, has shown heavy interest in 5-11, 175-pound senior point guard Paul McCoy ever since the Grant High School (Portland, OR) prospect was granted a release from the letter of intent he signed with Pepperdine. Tomorrow, McCoy will be in Charlottesville for an official visit and he hopes to leave with an official offer from the Cavaliers.

“I’ll know more after this visit,” McCoy said of receiving an offer from UVa. “It sounds really good, but I don’t want to say anything until I have the offer.”

McCoy signed with Pepperdine last November, but he asked for and was granted a release following the resignation of head coach Vance Walberg. McCoy’s release was granted the first week in February, and a number of programs including Virginia expressed immediate interest. Currently, he boasts scholarship offers from Loyola Marymount, SMU and Washington State, with Kentucky and Virginia showing heavy interest and perhaps on the brink of offering.
