Lorne Park Secondary School (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) defensive end Brent Urban has committed to the University of Virginia, the Daily Press and Roanoke Times report this morning.

Urban, a 6-7, 265-pound defensive end recruit who tallied 16 tackles-for-loss including 10 sacks last season as a junior, chose the Cavaliers over offers from Akron, Connecticut, Louisville and Maryland. Georgia Tech and Michigan State were among the schools showing interest as well prior to today’s news.

Urban becomes the 8th 2009 class prospect to commit to Virginia. He will be the second Canadian prospect to sign with the Cavaliers in as many years, joining 2008 class recruit, offensive lineman Austin Pasztor .

Stay tuned to the Sabre EDGE for more on Urban’s decision later today. And, as reported on the EDGE board last night, there is a chance another prospect comes on board this weekend.
