The University of Virginia has extended an offer to and is heavily in the running for at least one Henry Clay (Lexington, KY) star rising senior, offensive lineman Samuel Simpson . Whether or not another Henry Clay rising senior target seriously emerges on the Cavaliers target list could largely depend on camp later this month.

“This month, Sammy and I are going up together for a day,” 6-3, 208-pound linebacker Mike Federspiel said, referring to Virginia’s summer camp. “I’ve been getting letters from the Virginia coaches and I came up for the Spring Game with Samuel. They said it is big for me to come to camp because they haven’t seen that much of me.”

Federspiel, whose father, Joe, played linebacker at the University of Kentucky and then in the NFL for 10 years (with the Saints and Colts), played middle linebacker this past season as a junior. He played well, returning from an injury that kept him out for most of his sophomore season.
