Catholic (Belleair Beach, FL) tight end Paul Freedman narrowed his list of schools to three – Duke, Florida and Virginia – prior to today’s visit to the University of Virginia. The 6-6, 235-pound prospect’s first experience in Charlottesville was all he needed to know UVa was the right fit, though, and he committed to head coach Al Groh this afternoon.

“Everything about it was just perfect,” said Freedman, who was one of many rising senior recruits in attendance for today’s Top Prospect Day at UVa. He had never visited Charlottesville before. “I had been hearing about it for a while from a lot of different people. Coach Diaco recruited me and just meeting the rest of the staff put it over the top for me. Playing tight end is perfect for me because Virginia runs a great offense for the tight end. It is a perfect fit.”

Freedman discussed choosing Virginia over Duke and Florida. He had offers from Duke, Florida International, Indiana and Virginia.
