Chris Hinkebein is competing for the starting job at placekicker.

Heavily recruited out of high school by Marshall, Clemson, and Missouri, redshirt freshman Chris Hinkebein was expected to take over Virginia’s placekicking duties this spring after the graduation of the sure-footed Chris Gould . However, Hinkebein struggled during spring practice and is in close competition with former UVa soccer player Yannick Reyering, who has joined the team this fall, and true freshman Robert Randolph for time on the field.

The placekicking in general has improved greatly from the spring according to coach Al Groh.
