Assane Sene blocked 4 shots against Auburn.

Even though Assane Sene is just a freshman for the Virginia men’s basketball team, he is starting to make a noticeable impact on the court. Look no further than Saturday’s loss to Auburn for proof. Sene changed the flow of the game on defense by grabbing 9 defensive rebounds and blocking 4 shots while altering numerous others. UVa coach Dave Leitao likes the way Sene plays.

“It’s just energy. He’s not perfect, but he was from the start playing that way. He was the one guy in there rebounding and battling. He got caught with a second foul but he was able to be a presence in the second half with his energy, his length and his rebounding,” Leitao said. “There are other guys around him that we need to have the same kind of energy and passion from.”
